Emotional and Mental Wellness for Preteens

$60.00

DATES:

Monday, January 2nd through Thursday, January 5th (four days total)

TIME:

10 a.m.–11 a.m., Central Time

Course description:

This course will empower students with the neuropsychological, sociological, and practical information they need to foster their own mental and emotional health. Through a critical and curious lens, we will discuss anxiety, depression, and eating disorders (the so-called psychopathologies that most commonly present in this age group). Through a disability-justice lens, we will learn about ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. Together, we will practice various mindfulness techniques, explore technological aids (e.g., apps, websites), and brainstorm ways to talk to trusted adults when things are heavy. Students will be able to submit questions anonymously and have them answered live.

I taught a version of this course to students at Humberside Montessori in 2021 with great success, and I am thrilled to offer it now to the public.
